Call for nomination for the 2018 Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. Environmental Award is now open

In January 2017, the Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) celebrated its 16th Anniversary with the Annual Fundraising Dinner Gala. During the celebration the first and last “Visionary Award” was presented to President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. for his exceptional visionary leadership in moving conservation forward. Through innovative conservation actions, President Remengesau Jr. has inspired Palauans and the world. He has shown that although Palau is a small island nation it is pioneering in world conservation.

The Visionary Award was retired that night and in its place, the Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. Environmental Award was created.  This new award will be presented to those who have shown great initiative and contributed significantly to the conservation, management and protection of Palau’s environment in the past few years or over a lifetime.

Now as Center’s Annual Fundraising Gala nears, PICRC is calling for nominations for the 2018 Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. Environmental Award. The deadline for nominations for the 2018 Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. Environmental Award is November 10th, 2017. The award will be presented at PICRC’s 17th Anniversary Annual Fundraising Dinner Gala, which will be held January 18, 2018.
